Duke Nukem 64
Duke Nukem 64 Summary:
A lean, mean, first-person shootin' machine, Duke Nukem comes at you with two fistfuls of firepower and a take-no-prisoners attitude toward the alien scum infesting his universe. Duke's put-downs and penchant for blowing up anything in his path made the original game a PC hit. In making the leap to the N64, the game's 'tude and content have been toned down -- somewhat. The game still boasts a Mature rating, though, for its potty humor and other exercises in dubious taste. The 3-D worlds look suitably grungy, with plenty of mock movie posters and other visual jokes. Explosions and other special effects are excellent, but the 2-D enemies tend to pixilate at close range, just before you waste 'em. Play control is fast and hit detection is first-rate. Eurocom removed much of the music, leaving plenty of room for sound effects and the game's trademark Dukeisms. As the big guy himself would grunt, "Come get some!" [Nintendo]
